The start of a vision
We chose a run-down mas, or collection of farm buildings in 1994 as a family home. We found leaky rooves, primitive kitchen and bathroom facilities, scary wiring, an overgrown garden - and huge potential! Nearly 30 years later, the project has become more than a home, and the House of Prayer is a reality. From the outset, we have found this a 'thin' place where our faith is and renewed and strengthened, and where we can encounter God. The beauty of the setting resonates with our love of contemplative Christianity, finding God in creation and communing with Him through the simple activities of the day. Matines derives from the word for 'morning' and we are blessed with beautiful sunrises on our morning dog walks on the hillside.
